Can the motion sensors for the new SS be located pointing towards the keypad? I mounted one in the corner of our kitchen about 5' off of the floor. The keypad is mounted beside the door about 3' to 4' from the motion sensor so when you're standing facing the keypad the motion is to your right.
New SS motion sensors issue
Motion Sensor install location
My ideal location to install the motion sensor is above a doorway which is in a corner about 7 feet high. The instructions state 4 to 5 feet high. Will there be a problem with installing a few feet higher.
No Link to Dispatch
Recently my system keeps saying no link to dispatch. The system has been in the same spot and never had issues. I spoke with tech support the other day and we reset the base. Now the issue is occurring again two days later. Has anyone else had this issue? Anything we can do or is my equipment giving our?
Adding a Pin
Is it possible to add a "guest" pin to the original simplisafe system? If so, how.
keypad only connects when a foot away from base
I just got my system and the keypad only connects when it is a foot away from the base. Any further away and I get the keypad out of range alert. Also, the base is not getting signals from the sensors and again it only recognizes them when a foot away so I had to have both the keypad and the base in my hands when I pushed the button to install the sensors.
App push notifications
Under settings in the app, it allows me to change push notifications by selecting which of the three I want. After checking each box I click save. Upon returning to the previous screen it says this device.... Edit.
Basically it won't save my settings for push notifications for my device, hence they won't work. Still just get texts. Ideas?
PSA SimpliSafe 3 entry sensor tape = not strong enough.
Nothing like being out and about and getting a message on your phone that an entry sensor has been tripped, and then the call from SimpliSafe...
Good thing I was able to call my neighbor quickly to confirm there was nobody breaking into my house.
When I put the entry sensors on my doors and windows, I distinctly remembered thinking the piece with the battery in it did NOT feel especially secure when taped to the door frame. It was slightly “wiggly” for lack of a better word. So yep, one fell off while I was at a soccer game. Oy...
Camera sensitivity question
I am looking for a camera to monitor activity in the house, not human but canine. We have a 60lb dog who likes to go on a bowl flipping, food tipping rampage daily. Will this camera if pointed down toward the floor pick up the dog or does it rule it out since it is not "human sized"?
Thanks,
Replacement Strips
One of my sensors has already fallen off (in the last week). Has anyone found a good replacement? I'd order them from SimpliSafe but their shipping is almost twice as much as the strips themselves.
Multiple sensors in the same zone
As I was setting up my system, I was diligently going to each sensor and choosing a location for it (ie. Master Bedroom, Garage, Living Room, etc). All rooms have more than one window and I chose the same location for each windows's entry sensor. (ie. for the 4 windows in the Living Room, I chose Living Room).
When I tested the system, only the last one said "Entry Sensor Living Room". All of the others just said "Entry Sensor". This is the same for all rooms that have multiple entry sensors.
False alarm
Not sure if this belongs here or where but here goes.
At 3:53 AM an alarm was triggered by an entry sensor. I entered the master PIN at the keypad at 3:54. After checking the house, I determined this was a false alarm. My issues:
The sensor that triggered the alarm is on a window which was open ~4" to the stops built into the window. It was open when we set the alarm between 9 and 10 last night and nobody was awake to operate the window at 3:53. The magnet and sensor were still stuck in place.
I was not called by the dispatcher to confirm the false alarm or need for assistance.
Camera Cannot Find WiFi Network
I am now on my second SimpliSafe camera. It keeps failing setup and saying that it cannot connect to the selected WiFi network. I have about 15 devices currently connected to my 2.4Ghz network right now without issues. SimpliSafe insists it is my network just because they have sent two cameras but nothing about that makes sense. The app sees my network but then the camera tells me it cannot find the network.
Camera will not connect to wifi
I've sent three notes to simplisafe via their website with no response back. They have my phone and email, but they will not respond. Last week I bought 4 simplisafe cameras. They will not connect to my wifi. I've installed several dozen simplisafe alarm systems (I'm a general contractor), but this is my first camera attempt. I'm going to return them to simplisafe until they get the bugs out.
Keypad malfunction
I've had my system since 2015, lately the keypad is malfunctioning. Firstly it's going through batteries like crazy, I am replacing batteries every 2-3 months or so. Also, it doesn't beep anymore when I come home to indicate breach, but the alarm still goes off. It also doesn't show the alarm is off after I use remote to turn it off. And lastly, it says 1 entry sensor open when they're all closed. Any solution for this? Is there a way to reset these? Is there a firmware upgrade for these older units?
Thanks, T
reviewing entry and exit
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to look back and see if doors have been opened and closed. We would like to track our dog sitter to see that they have been coming and going.
Phone batteries won't last
When I activate my system and leave my house it really eats up my phone battery. Anyone else have this and if so how can I stop it from doing it?
Schedule alarm on/off
On my previous system I had the alarm on a schedule to arm throughout the night and disarm in the AM. Does SimpliSafe have this feature? I can’t find it.
Lowering powe cunsumption?
I have gotten it down to .3 watts removing the cell service module and and the internal speaker which i wanted gone anyway.....Can i pull the red led or anything else that could help?I am using this for a local alarm only obviously....also this is offgrid
Phone App fails on cell backup
The SS3 system can not be given the OFF, HOME, AWAY commands with phone app when WiFi is down. I tested my system several times. Turning power off to my router this places the system in cell network. At best the system would arm to HOME or AWAY with phone app but would not allow system to be turned off. Phone app times out and gives "Check WiFi and Data settings". Again the power is off to the router and I have no problem with my cell phone data. Also when doing these test with SS supervisor on phone they are unable to contact my base station from their end when this no WiFi situation occurs.
App - multiple users?
Can two people in the household use the app on separate phones with separate accounts? In other words, is it possible for each user to create their own username and password to log into the app on their phone, but still operate a shared alarm system? Or, do all the users in one house need to log in with the same email and password?
